Stamp Collecting: As hobbies go, this one is inexpensive and fun. Tom has collected stamps from around the world since he was a boy. The internet has made stamp collecting a lot more fun. Tom has contacts around the world that allow him to continue building his collection.

Model Rocketing: Tom has gotten into building model rockets with his children Tommy and Sarah. Every summer they go out and shoot off their new rocket creations. The rule about rocketing is "if you're not ready to say goodbye to your new rocket, then don't shoot it if off -- otherwise, there is a good chance you won't see it again!"

Golf: This is a pastime Tom wished he had more time for. He and his wife intend to take lessons some day and begin to play the game regularly.

Travel: Tom does a lot of travel with his choirs. He also enjoys planning trips for his family each year to new and interesting places. Michigan provides hundreds of summer destinations especially along the lakes.

Perennial Gardening: Tom Hodgman has over 80 varieties of perennials and flowering trees planted around his family home. Spring and early summer are a busy time with garden preparation and care. Fall is spent putting new bulbs in the ground.

Cooking: Tom collects international cookbooks and enjoys experimenting with new kinds of foods. His family enjoys entertaining friends and serving wonderful meals. Preparing the Thanksgiving feast of 2006 took three days in the kitchen (note that Tom hasn't chosen to prepare that meal a second time!)

Digital Video and Audio Editing: If it sounds like part of the job, it is. Tom video and audio records recitals and concerts at Adrian College. Its work, but it is also a fun hobby.
